Road rage shooting on SW Loop 410 leaves driver wounded, SAPD says

San Antonio police say a road rage incident may have led to a possible drive-by shooting Monday morning in southwest San Antonio, leaving one man injured.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating what they believe was a road rage-related shooting that left a driver wounded Monday morning on the city’s southwest side.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. near 12500 SW Loop 410 close to State Highway 16, according to the San Antonio Fire Department and SAPD.

Officials initially reported the case as a possible drive-by shooting. Police now say the shooting appears to have stemmed from some kind of road rage encounter between two vehicles.

Officer James David said the suspect allegedly cut the victim off and brake-checked him. When the victim attempted to speed past, the suspect fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle.

The victim, described as a 39- or 40-year-old man, was struck in the back of the neck. Police say he was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, not critical.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white, four-door Chevy truck. No license plate information was available, and the suspect has not been identified.

SAPD says the investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
