BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Nearly a million dollars was approved for two small cities in Bexar County for infrastructure improvements.
In Kirby, driving on Swann Lane can be a bit of a bumpy ride.
“It has bumps, potholes and all that,” one neighbor said. “It makes it hard for us, coming through, because the car hits and my mom and dad’s car the bottom is messed up because the scraping and the hitting and all that, has messed up the plastic part of the vehicle.”
On Tuesday, Bexar County Commissioners approved $219,127 to fund Swann Ln, between Alan Shepard St and French Sea St, and the intersection of Boatman Rd and Ackerman Rd.
“Streets infrastructure has been a main point of focus for the city, citizens of Kirby and the leadership of Kirby,” said Dr. Brian Rowland, Interim City Manager for Kirby. “Not at one time, but the goal is to have a plan and we’re going to eventually fix, work through fixing those streets.”
County Commissioners also improved $700,242 to fund phase three of construction on Crestview Drive. Construction on Crestview has already begun repairing the infrastructure underneath the road.
“The approval that we got from Bexar County, at the Bexar County Commissioners Court is for the third phase of the project, to enhance the mobility for vehicles, for pedestrians, for people with disability, any kind of ADA compliance that we have to adhere to, all of that is being undertaken, to ensure that our citizens have access to all the amenities within our community and beyond,” said Andy Joslin, City Administrator for Balcones Heights.
