He may have spent more than half of his life at the shelter, but he is ready to be your dedicated and loving friend.
HELOTES, Texas — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.
This week’s Forgotten Friend is a seven-and-a-half-year-old terrier retriever mix named Robbie who was found as a stray and brought to the Helotes Humane Society five years ago.
“Robbie is a remarkable Pitbull Terrier with a heart full of love and an abundance of energy,” said shelter staff.
He’s smart and shelter staff says that he picks up commands quickly.
“Robbie’s versatility and resourcefulness make him a wonderful match for an active lifestyle, as he loves engaging in outdoor activities and exercise,” said shelter staff.
His playful and loving nature ensures that there is never a dull moment when he is around. He may have spend more than half of his life at the shelter, but he is ready to be your dedicated and loving friend.
He needs a home without cats because he’s not a fan. He also gets along best with the ladies, so an all-female household would be best for him.
“Robbie is a strong, agile, and powerful dog who thrives in a female-only household, where he can truly shine,” said shelter staff.
He’s current on his vaccinations and has already been neutered. Who wants to make his doggy Christmas wish for a home come true?
Contact the Helotes Humane Society and set up a meet and greet.

As the weather gets colder, the need for supplies increases at HHS due to an increase in abandoned pets in Helotes.
Here are some other ways you can help out the pets:
Remember when you adopt a shelter pet, you save two lives… the one you bring home with you and the one that now will be saved because the shelter has more room.

Kendall was featured on Forgotten Friends back in May and she is still waiting to be chosen by a family.
- Kendall is always ready for an adventure! She has bright, expressive eyes and a tail that never stops wagging.
- She loves to play fetch, and adores cuddling. She wants a family with lots of energy that can keep up with her playful spirit. Kendall likes to go for long walks, take trips to the park and just having fun with people.
- If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion, look no further! She is healthy, spayed and current on all of her vaccinations. She even has her microchip already so she can identified if she ever gets lost.

We told you about Apollo over a year ago and he’s still waiting.
- We first told you about Apollo in November of 2023, but sadly, he is still waiting for someone to notice him. We never give up on finding these Forgotten Friends homes. It just takes the right person at the right time. Are you that person?
