Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio massive success, say organizer
On Sunday, the marathon saw elite runners take to the course. Jacob Buhler of New Braunfels won the men’s race with a time of 2:29:29 and Courtney Olivier of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana won for the women with a time of 2:47:40, according to race organizers.
“I feel like a hometown favorite, I like to think, in the sense that I have a lot of support in the community. That is what sport is all about. The course, the second half, is always tough regardless of the marathon. It’s still tough through the greenway. The support today was tremendous and having family and friends out here meant a lot,” said Jacob Buhler.
“I try not to look back, I just try to focus on the road ahead…. But no matter what happens, if you can get to the finish line, it’s a win.” – said Courtney Olivier
Calahan Warren of Auburndale, Fla. with a time of 1:07:54 and Natosha Rogers of New Braunfels finishing in 1:09:49 were the male and female overall winners of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio half marathon.
“(This was my) first half marathon so I’m very, very happy,” said Calahan Warren. “I’ve been training so hard and happy to have my parents, sister and a lot of friends that live in San Antonio came out to support me. I’m thrilled at this result.”
“This is just the start of a marathon build, so I have a lot of work ahead of me and a lot more miles, but this was a great start and a great race for sure,” said Natosha Rogers.
Next year, the San Antonio Marathon will succeed the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series. The new event will also include a 5K race on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. The Running Event convention will happen Dec. 2-4.
