Roof collapses after house fire on northwest side, SAFD says

Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Raritan Street near Bandera Road around 10 a.m.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio fire crews battled a big house fire on the northwest side Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Raritan Street near Bandera Road around 10 a.m.

The roof collapsed shortly after the firefighters arrived.

Neighbors told fire crews the occupants are usually gone for long periods of time. Fire crews did find lots of materials and items inside the home – similar to what you would see in a hoarder house.

Fire crews were limited on entering the home due to safety precautions regarding the collapse.

No one has been found inside the home, officials say.

Fire crews say they will remain on scene for the next couple of hours.

The house is believed to be a total loss due to a full roof collapse and extensive fire and water damage, fire officials say.

No other information was provided.
