Rosco’s Rescue fundraiser Tuesday at Pup, Pup and Away!

Volunteers are still needed for the event, which is being held to raise money to help rescue dogs in San Antonio. 🐾💙

SAN ANTONIO — A local animal shelter has caught the attention of a national organization committed to helping shelters raise money to save animals. And they are teaming up to hold a fabulous fundraiser on Tuesday.

Rosco’s Rescue was founded by Rachel Saulnier after adopting her dog Rosco from a euthanasia list in rough shape.

“Covered in fleas, struggling to walk, and afraid of touch, his story and photograph broke my heart,” said Rachel.

Without hesitation she decided to rescue him and to this day, she still says it was the best decision she’s ever made. But saving Rosco wasn’t enough. She has a mission to save as many as she can and needs your help.

“The streets are for your exes, not strays,” reads their slogan, which caught the attention of Jordan’s Way, LLC, an organization that helps local shelters raise money to save pets.

Rosco’s Rescue will be joined by Kris Rotonda, the founder of Jordan’s Way, LLC., as he continues his journey through Texas visiting underfunded and overpopulated animal shelters and rescues while helping them raise money.

“Rotonda founded Jordan’s Way after his best friend, Jordan, passed away. Jordan was a shelter dog who spent the first 3.5 years of her life being overlooked in a shelter. He spent 11 years with her before she died of cancer. After she passed, Rotonda made it his mission to honor her life by helping raise awareness for overlooked shelter animals and helping them get the attention they deserve.”

Join them at Pup, Pup and Away! located at 3701 San Pedro Avenue on Tuesday, September 9 from 6 until 9 p.m.

“We’ll be playing games and competing in challenges with the overall goal of raising money for the rescue,” said Rachel. “The event will be live-streamed from Facebook so people can watch, interact, and donate!”

The fundraiser will be filled with non-stop challenges, high energy fun while raising awareness for the animals and much needed money for Rosco’s Rescue.

“No animal should have to spend their life in a shelter, and I am passionate to highlight and support the many organizations across our country who work relentlessly to ensure these pets find loving homes, despite their age, breed, or heath issues”, said Rotonda. “Each stop on the Jordan’s Way tour offers the ability to bring awareness to the importance of the saying “Adopt, Don’t Shop” to an entirely new community”. “The system with animal welfare is broken, and Jordan’s Way want to help become THE VOICE to Fix it”, said Kris.

In a world where some people find it easier to abandon than to stand up, Rosco’s Rescue provides a voice for the voiceless.

“We believe that every dog deserves a second chance, not just at life but at love,” said Rosco’s Rescue.  “We focus on finding safe, and loving homes for at risk, sick, abandoned, neglected and homeless dogs.”

If you RSVP to volunteer by September 5, you will get a free t-shirt! Call the rescue at (210) 601-9181.

“It’s a lot of fun and an awesome way for our rescue to reach people who have never heard of us, and also raise money so we can continue our mission of saving the strays in San Antonio,” said Rachel. “We primarily pull our dogs straight from the streets, or help individuals in San Antonio who need placement for their dog, or an accidental litter.”

Visit their website and check out the dogs available for adoption.
