Russell Westbrook surpasses Tim Duncan to claim the No. 17 spot on the NBA All-Time Scoring List.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs great Tim Duncan has moved down one spot on the NBA All-Time Scoring List to No. 18, as Kings’ Russell Westbrook has passed him to move into the No. 17 spot.
Recently, Westbrook scored his 26,497th point, passing Duncan’s mark of 26,496.
The moment came with his eighth point in the second quarter of the Kings’ recent game against the Houston Rockets.
With the Thunder, Westbrook and the Spurs were longtime rivals and met in the NBA playoffs with intense battles. He scored 40 points against the Spurs in the 2014 West Finals; however, the Spurs eliminated the Thunder in six games en route to the NBA Finals against the Heat.
Interestingly, he’ll potentially pass ex-Spur Dominique Wilkins next at No. 16 on the list, who had 26,668 points.
In his career against the Spurs, he’s averaged 19.1 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.7 rebounds in 57 games, with a 27-30 regular-season record against San Antonio.
