SA homeowner shaken up after being shot at while chasing after truck thief; police search for suspect

The suspect was last seen running away on foot into the heavy brush area from the Luckey Ranch subdivision, deputies say.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a male suspect accused of stealing a pickup truck Monday morning on the southwest side of town.

BCSO says it happened in the 7200 block of Duck Pond. Deputies say the man fired shots at the homeowner who was chasing him after the theft of his truck. The homeowner says he feels violated after a man stole his 2000 gold Ford F350.

The homeowner who wishes to remain anonymous says he’s worked hard for what he has.

“I feel violated,” he said. “I don’t got nothing fancy. I got an older truck that I worked my butt off for.”

Still running off of adrenaline this owner is glad to have his pickup truck back after chasing down a suspect BCSO says is still on the loose.

This all happened this morning after 7:30 in a Medina Valley neighborhood in the 7200 block of Duck Pond near the Luckey Ranch subdivision.

BCSO says a man stole a pickup truck and the owner chased him.

During the chase, the thief fired shots at the owner.

The pursuit continued with BCSO deputies but they lost sight of the suspect and called off the search around 11 a.m.

The truck was later found in a ditch.

“At this point I don’t know if I even want to keep it,” the homeowner said. “You know that’s real personal. For someone just to come by and take it away. And my dirt bike. It’s sad. Real sad.”

The victim could not give deputies a good description of the suspect but he was last seen running off into the heavy brush area near the Luckey Ranch subdivision.

You are urged to contact the BCSO at (210) 335-6000, if you know anything about this crime or see any suspicious persons in this vicinity. You can also email BCSOTIPS@bexar.org and remain anonymous.
