SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio pediatrician who was accused of sexually assaulting one of his patients has been temporarily suspended by the Texas Medical Board, according to a news release.
Gabriel Perez, 50, was arrested on Nov. 21 for aggravated assault of a child. Officials said the victim, estimated to be between 10 and 16 years old, had made an outcry to his parents. They then contacted local authorities.
On Nov. 25, a disciplinary panel of the board temporally suspended the Texas medical license of Perez without notice, effective immediately.
The board determined that “his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare.”
A temporary suspension hearing with notice is planned to be held with 10 days’ notice to Perez, unless he waives it.
The suspension will remain in place until the board takes further action.
