SA Zoo shares most-submitted ex names so far ahead of ‘Cry Me A Cockroach’ Valentine’s Day event

The heartbreak leaderboard is in. 👀💔 Here are the top names who the San Antonio Zoo says have some not-so happy exes participating in this year’s fundraiser.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Zoo has revealed the top names so far in its annual “Cry Me a Cockroach” fundraiser and if your name is on this list, you may want to lie low this Valentine’s Day.

The unique fundraiser allows participants to name a cockroach, rat or veggie after an ex or “not-so-special someone.” The item is then fed to one of the zoo’s animal residents.

The Zoo shared on Facebook the most-submitted names so far whose exes are seeking revenge this Valentine’s Day:

  • Justin
  • John
  • Brad
  • Bryan
  • Luke

Zoo officials say the fundraiser is designed to turn heartbreak into conservation action, with proceeds supporting the zoo’s animal care and wildlife conservation efforts.

While the fundraiser has gained widespread attention in past years for its humor, zoo officials emphasize it supports an important cause.

Additionally, participants will receive a Valentine’s Day card and a special holiday-themed video featuring one of the zoo’s popular residents. The public can also watch the feedings unfold on Valentine’s Day by following @SanAntonioZoo on social media.

There’s still time for the leaderboard to change before Valentine’s Day but for now, the spotlight belongs to Justin, the reigning king of critter cuisine.
