SAFD: Cat dies in fire at northeast side apartment

Nobody was home at the time of the fire.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire officials say that a cat died in an apartment fire on the northeast side of San Antonio late Tuesday night.

It happened around 10:38 p.m. in the 12660 block of Uhr Lane, near Thousand Oaks Drive and Bulverde Road.

When firefighters arrived at the apartment complex, they found a fire in the kitchen in one of the buildings. Nobody was home in the unit where the fire originated.

One of the cats in the home did not make it out, according to firefighters. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

No other buildings were damaged. The person who lives in the damaged apartment is displaced from their home. No injuries to any firefighters or residents were reported.

Officials say the damage to the apartment is moderate.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
