A home on the northwest side of San Antonio was damaged by a fire that spread from a chimney on New Year’s Day.
SAN ANTONIO — A home on the northwest side was damaged by a fire that appears to have started in a chimney on New Year’s Day.
The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the fire in the 8200 block of Evert Drive near Eckhert Road around 1:42 p.m. Thursday.
Officials say 16 units were initially dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters determined the flames spread from inside the chimney, causing damage to the chimney and the attic of the home. Crews were able to contain the fire before it spread further.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and the estimated amount of damage have not yet been determined.
