San Antonio firefighters swiftly contained an electrical fire at Mauro’s Tire Shop, sparked by rain-damaged wiring. No injuries occurred, but the incident is under investigation.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio firefighters quickly knocked down a late-night fire at a tire shop on the city’s northeast side Tuesday.
The fire broke out around 10:56 p.m. at Mauro’s Tire Shop, located at 2210 Austin Highway. According to a battalion chief, crews arrived to find an active fire inside the building.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames quickly, preventing the fire from spreading further. Investigators determined the cause was electrical. Officials say power to a security camera shorted out due to rain, igniting a door frame before the fire traveled up a wall.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities say the front of the building sustained moderate damage. Both the San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
