SAN ANTONIO — Two Converse families have been displaced from their home after fire tore through their duplex late Monday night on the northeast side of town, officials say.
This happened just before midnight in the 8400 block of Forest Ridge Drive, near Crestway Road and Gibb Sprawl Road.
This fire was intense and took firefighters a lot of work to keep the homes from being destroyed. One firefighter was hurt and had to get medical treatment.
When crews arrived, fire was already shooting through the roof. Part of the roof collapsed once the chimney fell.
Firefighters from Converse, Universal City, Schertz, Windcrest, and Bexar County fire departments all worked together to extinguish out the flames.
The two families that lived in the duplex were able to get out safely, but will have to find a new place to stay.
There’s no word yet on where the fire started or how. Investigators are still trying to figure that out.
