Firefighters are battling hotspots after flames tore through a home near West Commerce and Culebra.
SAN ANTONIO — A fast-moving fire destroyed a small vacant home on the west side of San Antonio early Wednesday morning, briefly spreading to two neighboring houses before firefighters brought it under control.
The San Antonio Fire Department responded around 5:45 a.m. to the 300 block of Inez Avenue, between West Commerce Street and Culebra Road. Fifteen units were dispatched.
According to SAFD, the home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, preventing major damage to nearby structures. Officials said the main fire caused only minor spread to the two neighboring homes.
All fires were under control within roughly 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Earlier, a neighbor told KENS 5 that a man and woman had been living at the home and that the couple owned three dogs. However, fire officials have since confirmed the structure was vacant at the time of the fire.
The cause remains under investigation.
