SAN ANTONIO — An early morning fire damaged three homes on the city’s east side early Wednesday, leaving one house destroyed and two others with exterior damage, officials said.
The blaze broke out around 1:59 a.m. at a property in the 2100 block of East Crockett Street. According to a San Antonio Fire Department battalion chief, crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the main home. The fire had already begun to spread to the houses on both sides.
Firefighters focused first on protecting the neighboring homes, quickly knocking down flames on those structures before turning their efforts to the primary fire. The resident in the home to the left was safely evacuated and later allowed to return. The house on the right sustained more severe scorching but remained structurally intact.
The main home, which officials say was unoccupied, is expected to be a total loss.
No injuries were reported. Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
