SAFD investigating fire possibly caused by ‘pile of oily rags’ outside south-side commercial laundry service

The fire was on the outside of a business in the area, mostly causing external damage to several plastic bins as well as the exterior of the metal building.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire officials are investigating a fire they say started on the outside of a commercial laundry service Monday night.

Around 10:38 p.m., SAFD was called to the 50 block of Park Court for a structure fire. The fire was on the outside of a business in the area, mostly causing external damage to several plastic bins as well as the exterior of the metal building, SAFD says.

Firefighters were quickly able to knock down the fire. No injuries were reported by SAFD as the business was closed at the time.

SAFD is investigating the cause, but say that a “pile of oily rags” may have caused the fire.
