SAN ANTONIO — SAFD is working a major fire at a northwest-side apartment complex Friday afternoon.
Fire officials were called to the 5100 block of USAA Boulevard for a structure fire just before 3 p.m.
SAFD says it is “a well involved large apartment fire.” They say the fire was on a second-floor balcony and spread to an attic space.
One building, which includes 16 apartments, is a total loss. Nine of those units were occupied. The fire was contained to that one building and did not spread to any other buildings.
One resident is currently being evaluated for minor smoke inhalation. No firefighters were injured.
KENS 5 cameras at the scene captured damage, including at least one collapsed roof.
This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
