SAFD: Two people hospitalized following fire at northeast-side apartment

Firefighters rescued the two people that were trapped in the bedroom of the apartment.

SAN ANTONIO — Two people were rushed to the hospital after a fire tore through their northeast-side apartment late Saturday night.

Fire crews rushed to the scene at the Tanglewood Apartments off Brees Boulevard just before 11 p.m.

When they got there, firefighters found smoke pouring from a first-floor unit and flames raging through a back bedroom. Firefighters were able to rescue a man and a woman who were trapped in the bedroom.

Both victims were fighting for their lives in the hospital.

No other units were impacted by the fire.

No word yet how that fire started. Fire investigators are currently investigating.
