SAN ANTONIO — Two people jumped to escape a fire that may have been intentionally set at an apartment building on the northeast side of town Monday night, police say.
Firefighters were called out to the 3900 block of Eisenhauer Road around 10:30 p.m. for reports of a fire.
Officials say that a couple was arguing and the man allegedly assaulted the woman, then locked her inside the unit, started a fire, then ran off. He was found not far from the apartments by police and detained.
The woman jumped from a window to escape from the fire, and another person had to jump from a balcony.
Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A firefighter was also burnt while working on the fire and he was taken to BAMC with minor injuries.
Police say the suspect may be facing arson charges but the investigation is ongoing.
The building did not sustain any structural damage, however multiple units were impacted.
This is a developing story.
