
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Whether you are a resident or a visitor, here are a few reminders if you plan to visit the beach this weekend during Memorial Day weekend.
The Corpus Christi Police Department advises everyone to plan accordingly as traffic may be congested due to the holiday weekend.
Beach rules:
1. No glass bottles or containers
2. Must be 21 years old to consume alcohol
3. Dispose of litter in trash receptacles
4. No canopies left overnight
5. Properly dispose of pet waste
On Gulf beaches – Additional Rules:
6. The speed limit is 15 mph. All traffic laws apply, including driving while intoxicated. Don’t drink and drive.
7. Beach Parking Permits are required to park on the beach
8. Campfires are allowed:
* 3’ x 3’ x 3’ or less in size
* No pallets/treated lumber, plastics, furniture, or building materials can be used (not allowed)
* Must be at least 25 feet from any vehicle with combustible fuel, 75 feet from any vegetation line/dune, and 250 feet from any permanent structure
* Must be fully extinguished, no residue left, and replace any sand in holes
9. No Golf Carts or Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) are allowed on Park Rd 22, SH361, or any road with a speed limit of more than 35 mph.
10. Camping
* Prohibited in front of condos and hotels
* Allowed for 3 days & nights consecutively, but no more than 6 days within 1 month.
* NO DOGS ALLOWED on the beach from the Northside of Packery Channel (~BM 209) to Zahn Rd to Beach Access Rd 3 (~BM 187) (per City Manager)
* DOGS ARE ALLOWED on the beach from the Southside of Packery Channel (~BM 210) to Beach Access Rd 6 (~BM 237) but must be on a leash or obey verbal commands [includes Ellis Beach, Whitecap Beach, Padre Balli Park, and Bob Hall Pier]
On North Beach and McGee Beach – Additional Rules:
12. Driving on the beach is prohibited
13. No BBQ pits allowed on beach premises
14. No moonwalks or other inflatable games
15. No campfires
