Salvation Army workers heading to help those impacted by flooding in Houston area

Staff and volunteers will be preparing and serving meals to first responders and residents.

SAN ANTONIO — A helping hand is ready to assist those impacted by the flooding in the Houston area. The Salvation Army is sending a team from their facility near downtown San Antonio.

Their crew with the Rapid Response Unit is ready to go for what will likely be a week-long deployment. This vehicle is packed with items to help those impacted by the floods, especially food.

Staff and volunteers will be preparing and serving meals to first responders and residents. They are not the only unit to be on the ground in the Houston area.

Other Salvation Army emergency disaster units began meal servcie last Thursday. They have been in hard-hit Walker County, where flooding has been extensive.

Now that water has receded and more areas have become accessible, Houston area officials have requested additional units to help with relief.

A response like this is possible through the support of donors.
