San Antonio airport unveils SAT PASS for gate reunions

50 people per day can be approved for the pass.

SAN ANTONIO — At the San Antonio International Airport, guests can now meet and greet their loved ones at the gate.

SAT launched its new SAT PASS program, which allows a limited amount of non-ticketed visitors to meet and visit with passengers after going through security.

Guests can apply by going online to request a pass at least 24 hours in advance. If the request is approved, the pass will be sent to the guest as a QR code. The code will allow access through TSA security checkpoint.

With the pass, guests can surprise a loved one at the gate, welcome home a soldier from deployment, or even get food with a friend before boarding.

Officials said they unveiled the program because they wanted to give guests more opportunities to connect and spend time together.

“This pass is designed for anyone who wants to spend additional time with a traveler. We listened to our travelers and members of the community, and we feel Valentine’s week is the perfect time to launch this new free service,” said Tonya Hope, Public Relations Manager at SAT. “We shared information about the new program with our travelers and included the message on some sweet treats for Valentine’s Day.”

50 people per day can be approved for the SAT PASS, according to officials.
