A statement from the Live Oak Police Department shed further light on what shut down a neighborhood street in the small town outside San Antonio Thursday morning, March 21. According to the statement, a police chase ended when an officer fired their handgun into the drivers side of a fleeing vehicle after a prolonged police chase in the very early hours of Thursday.
“A Live Oak Police officer observed a suspicious 2016 Kia Soul in a city park during closed hours,” the statement reads. “The vehicle fled when the officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect disregarded the emergency lights and sirens of the police vehicle. While fleeing, the vehicle entered a cul-de-sac. The officer stopped and exited the police vehicle.”

The driver was treated for a gunshot wound, and both the driver and a passenger were identified as minors, according to the statement.
