SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Art League + Museum is unveiling a new permanent installation this November.
The art installation, “Art is a Stone’s Throw Away” will be on display starting Nov. 23. The installation is made of stones that lead to the entrance of the museum. A reception to unveil the art will be held on Nov. 23 from 3p.m. to 5p.m.
According to the museum, each stone is created by an artist who contributed to the San Antonio Art League + Museum’s mission to preserve and exhibit of local and regional art.
“The inspiration for ‘Art is a Stone’s Throw Away’ grew from the desire to honor those who have so generously shared their time, talent and energy in support of SAAL+M’s mission,” noted Ilna Colemere the project chairperson.
The artists included in the new installation are: Andre Bally, Virginia Bally, Elaine Bornemeier, Ilna Colemere, Billy Keen, Lyn Belisle Kurtin, Claudia Langford, Terry Gay Puckett, Patsy Sasek, Steven Smith, Stefani Job Spears, Dr. Mary Beth Swofford, Peter Szarmach and Dona LeCrone Walston.
“Every artist who created a stone has also shaped the spirit of the Art League–through their art, their teaching, and their tireless support of a shared cultural legacy,” observed Lyn Belisle Kurtin, president of SAAL+M.
