San Antonio celebrates record EMT class graduation with 31 new heroes

SAN ANTONIO — Over the course of this summer, we’ve been reminded firsthand of the incredibly important role emergency responders play in protecting lives and strengthening our communities.

On Friday, San Antonio celebrated the next generation of those heroes as the largest graduating class in the history of the National EMS Academy’s San Antonio campus. The graduates are now official Emergency Medical Technicians.

The National EMS Academy, operated by Acadian Ambulance Service, honored 31 graduates at the San Antonio Civic Center. Proud families and friends watched as the new EMTs received their certificates, marking the start of their careers in healthcare and emergency response.

Keynote speaker Dr. Emily Kidd, Medical Director for Acadian Ambulance Service and Director of Medical Response Services for the Texas Division of Emergency Management, recently led tactical medical response teams during the Kerr County flood disaster. She spoke about the life-saving impact and community trust EMTs uphold every day.

The National EMS Academy also announced it’s making EMT training more affordable than ever discounting tuition by 75%, so San Antonians can enroll for just $400. The next 12-week hybrid course starts September 8, and registration is open now at BecomeAMedic.com.

The National EMS Academy hopes this record-breaking class inspires more people to step up, give back, and join the next wave of first responders.
