The vote passsed 8-2 on Thursday morning.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio City Council voted to add a code of conduct to the city charter on Thursday.
It passed in an 8-2 vote among council members. This comes after were three separate votes to censure three council members, former councilmen Mario Bravo and Clayton Perry and current councilman Marc Whyte, who was arrested on suspicion of DWI.
The draft is four pages long and defines what could become city council’s values, also outling discipline for those who violate it.

This includes a clause on the removal of council members, which is something they currently have limited power to do.
In 2022, Bravo was censured after he berated then councilwoman and former partner Ana Sandoval during a political dispute.
Then last year, Perry was arrested for running from the scene of a car accident.
And in December, Councilman Whyte was arrested for alleged drunk driving.
According to the proposed code, all complaints would need to be made in writing to the city manager.
At that point an investigation could begin against the council member in question.
This is a developing story.
