San Antonio community health event provides screenings, STI education, fresh produce

Similar outreach efforts are planned in the coming months.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio residents gathered at Las Palmas Library on Saturday for a free Community Health Plática.

District 5 and Metro Health hosted the event to connect residents with prevention resources and improve access to health care.

Organizers said attendees received information on diabetes prevention and management, sexually transmitted infections and substance use awareness. Residents also received free health screenings, connections to local health services and fresh produce.

City officials said the event is part of an ongoing collaboration between District 5 and Metro Health aimed at providing accessible, neighborhood-based health resources. Similar outreach efforts are planned in the coming months.
