
Public ceremonies are planned at a south-side American Legion post and at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio community will gather Monday to honor fallen service members during Memorial Day ceremonies across the city.
A public ceremony is scheduled at the American Legion John F. Kennedy Post 485 on Kendalia Avenue on the south side. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will include remarks from community leaders, a Harlandale High School JROTC color guard, the National Anthem and a performance of “Taps.”
Fort Sam Houston Cemetery will also hold its annual Memorial Day tribute. A musical interlude begins at 9 a.m., followed by the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The event is open to the public.
Those attending are asked to enter the cemetery through Harry Wurzbach Road. Traffic will be one way through the cemetery.
