After shooting down rumors late last year that this old San Antonio diner on Broadway would close, a new report hints that the restaurant is hoping to hold on to the property under new ownership. San Antonio-based GreyStreet Partners has reportedly purchased the Pig Stand property at 1508 Broadway, according to the San Antonio Business Journal

MySA reached out to GrayStreet and Pig Stand owner Mary Ann Hill for comment. Hill confirmed to the Business Journal that GrayStreet closed on the purchase and that she is negotiating a new lease on the property. She said she hopes to keep the Pig Stand open.

The report doesn’t say how much GrayStreet purchased the property for and documents haven’t hit Bexar County records as of Tuesday afternoon, February 21. Appraisal district records show that the property was last valued at over $3 million.

In December 2022, just two days before Christmas, Hill shut down online rumors that the Pig Stand, which opened in 1921, was going to close its doors. Hill was in the middle of cooking in the kitchen because one of her cooks had trouble getting to work that morning. Hill said in December that closing its doors was going to come eventually, but she had no immediate plans to close the Pig Stand’s doors just yet.

GrayStreet purchased the old Mexican Manhattan building in January and is behind the proposed redevelopment at the Lone Star Brewery.
