San Antonio dog Sally finds her forever family

Sally, a sweet dog who tragically witnessed her owner’s death, was adopted, according to her neighbor.

SAN ANTONIO — It was a last-chance adoption, and now we have good news.

Sally was adopted from ACS and will live out her days in a forever home.

After her owner was shot and killed by San Antonio police last Friday, 4-year-old Sally needed to be fostered or adopted out right away. She had been in the care of Animal Care Services.

Sally witnessed her owner being killed by police at the Hays Street Bridge near Cherry Street, but had not lost her good heart. Sally’s been through a lot, but remains kind, even to strangers.

“The fact that she has so much love left to give, a lot of dogs are abused, and they’re very difficult to take care of,” Sally’s neighbor, Julia Domaradzka, had said.

Domaradzka knows Sally’s heart is bigger than what happened.

“For her to be sweet after being tied up in a yard her whole life like that, I just think that speaks volumes about her character…she deserves a fair shot at life,” she added.

On Aug. 29, Sally’s owner allegedly pointed a gun at San Antonio officers, and he was shot and killed. Sally was taken away in hopes of finding a better home.

“Dogs like that need a little bit of time to decompress, get back on their feet,” said Lisa Norwood, with ACs.
