San Antonio family raises funds for baby diagnosed with ultra-rare disease

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio family is fighting to save their 17-month-old son.

At just five months old, Zayd was diagnosed with Farber disease, a terminal disorder that causes intense pain, muscle weakness and severe developmental delays.

Sunday they held “Hope for Zayd,” a fundraiser to help with research and help pay for gene therapy, which may be his only chance.

They raised over $16,000 with proceeds benefitting the “Fight Farber Foundation.”

But that is just a fraction of what they need.
