San Antonio family seeks justice in 2022 bar shooting murder

San Antonio Crime Stoppers seeks help to solve Samantha Gonzales’ 2022 murder, offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

SAN ANTONIO — More than three years ago, a night out at a bar on the east side of San Antonio ended with a 27-year-old mother shot in the head. Samantha Gonzales later died from her injuries.

Now San Antonio Crime Stoppers needs your help find those responsible for her murder.

The family of Samantha Gonzales says the night of September 26 2022, they were out at La Tropicana Bar on Gevers Street near Denver Boulevard when the shooting took place.

According to the family, Samantha’s brother-in-law bumped into someone at the bar and apologized.

However, tension grew, and her family says Samantha stepped in to try to calm everyone down.

But that’s when a man put her into a chokehold and a fight broke out

It escalated to gunfire, and the Gonzales family ran away from the bar. That is when Samantha was shot in the head.

“My sister yelled, and she was like mom. After that we didn’t hear her,” said Erika Gonzales, Samantha’s sister. “I want justice for my sister. She didn’t’ deserve it. She didn’t.”

Following Samantha’s death, the Gonzales family has been fighting for justice and demanded the bar gets shut down.

The bar owner says she understands the family’s pain but said the bar had no responsibility in Samantha’s murder.

If you know anything about this case, call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP.

They’re offering up to a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
