San Antonio firefighters quickly put out flames at northeast-side apartments

SAFD said one person was hospitalized after jumping from the second floor of a northeast-side apartment complex after flames broke out Tuesday night.

SAN ANTONIO — Over 30 San Antonio Fire Department units rushed to a northeast-side apartment complex after flames broke out Tuesday night.

SAFD officials said crews arrived to the apartments located on the 3900 block of Barrington Street after 9:30 p.m. and quickly attacked the blaze.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames to one to two apartment units and were working to put out hot spots.

Officials said there were no serious or life-threatening injuries but one person reportedly jumped from the second floor and was hospitalized for injuries sustained from the fall. Two others were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to SAFD.

There were eight total apartments in the unit where the fire broke out and officials say it is unclear at this time how many were affected.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story.
