San Antonio gas prices drop again, with some stations below $2 a gallon

In Bexar County, the average for regular gas is $2.26 a gallon.

SAN ANTONIO — Gas prices have stayed low for the past couple of months and they’ve continued to slide into the new year.

Right now, the national average sits at $2.79 a gallon, after dropping below $3 in early December.

According to AAA, drivers in Texas are paying about 40 cents less than the national average, with regular gas at $2.39 a gallon statewide.

In San Antonio, the average price is even lower at $2.27. One Alamo City station has dipped below the $2 mark, the northeast-side Sam’s Club on Interstate 35 near Judson Road is advertising unleaded at $1.98 a gallon as of Sunday afternoon. 

San Antonio’s average is also lower than prices in Corpus Christi, Houston and Austin.

San Antonio drivers are seeing more relief at the pump, with regular gas about 19 cents cheaper than a week ago and more than 40 cents less per gallon than this time last year. In Bexar County, the average for regular gas is $2.26 a gallon.
