San Antonio gears up for festive St. Patrick’s Day river parades and family friendly celebrations this weekend

The river turn green and there will be plenty of festive fun with river parades, live entertainment and even a 5K this St. Patrick’s Day weekend in San Antonio. 🍀

SAN ANTONIO — Get ready for a lot of food, drinks and fun because the Irish spirit will be alive and well downtown for the annual St. Patrick’s River Parades & Celebration.

It’s an over 50-year tradition with something for everyone to enjoy.

San Antonio always knows how to throw a party, and this weekend is no exception!

You can watch the river turn green at Mad Dogs British Pub starting at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, but that’s only the beginning of the fun.

From 1-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, you can have fun at the St. Patrick’s Day Festival at La Villita and enjoy live entertainment at the Arneson River Theatre.

From 2-3 p.m., the 2nd Annual Emerald Run 5K will be happening at the Jones Avenue bridge.

If you want to move a little slower, a family walk will take place after the run.

For parades, families have multiple options:

The first will be at the museum reach of the San Antonio river from 3-4 p.m. The second will be downtown starting at 5:45 p.m. The last will be at the Arneson River Theatre at 6:30 p.m.

And if you miss the river dyeing on Saturday. Organizers will do it all again on Sunday at Mad Dogs British Pub from 1-3 p.m.

Lastly, if you want to bring your pets to the fun, McIntyre’s Southtown is having a lucky dog fashion show starting at 2:30 p.m.
