SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio girl is continuing her run in a national art competition, now advancing to the quarterfinals.

Mia is competing in the Bob Ross America’s Most Artistic Kid competition and is currently ranked second in her group, placing her in the top 1% of young artists nationwide.

The competition describes Mia as a creative artist who loves bright, happy colors and dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

If she wins, her artwork will be displayed in a museum, she will appear on “The Joy of Painting,” and take home a $20,000 prize.

Voting remains open through April 9 at 7 p.m. PDT, with supporters able to vote once per day. Organizers say some voting periods include opportunities for votes to count double.

Mia’s father, Joshua Candelaria, says he’s doing everything he can to support his daughter’s dream.

“I’m just a single dad trying to help my daughter’s dreams come true,” he shared, encouraging the community to continue supporting her journey.

Mia is also a military child, and her experiences traveling and exploring new places help inspire her colorful and imaginative artwork.

Supporters can vote for Mia online as she competes to move on to the next round.
