San Antonio high school teacher dies after suffering medical emergency on campus, district says

North East ISD sent a message to the school community saying the teacher died after suffering a medical emergency during first period on Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO — North East ISD announced on Thursday that a MacArthur High School teacher died while on campus after suffering an apparent medical emergency. 

It happened Thursday morning during first period, district officials said in a message to the MacArthur community and families. 

The campus went into a hold status as EMS performed life-saving measures on the unidentified teacher, but he did not survive. They haven’t elaborated on the nature of his medical emergency. 

The district’s Crisis Intervention Team will be on campus to offer support for the next several days.

Principal Joaquin Hernandez said that he plans on sharing the news with the student body over the PA system at the beginning of 7th period on Friday. Hernandez added if any parents believe that their child should not receive the news in that manner to let him know so the school can best support each child.
