SAN ANTONIO — Several student athletes from all across the country will participate in two high-profile football games in San Antonio this weekend.
118 students representing 68 high schools have been chosen for the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game, presented by Valero. The All-Star game highlights top local high school players who were nominated by coaches and a selection committee. The game will take place on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Alamodome on the 47th anniversary of the game. The area’s top senior players will take the field at 5 p.m.
The All-Star game follows the Navy All-American Bowl, a national high school all-star event that kick off at 12 p.m. This year’s matchup will showcase the top seniors and juniors from all around the nation for the first-time ever. It’s also the 25th anniversary of the All-American Bowl. The Bowl has produced 594 NFL draft picks, 6 Heisman trophy winners and over 200 Pro Bowl selections.
One ticket will admit you into both events. General admission tickets are $15 and are available at the Alamodome Box Office and through Ticketmaster.
The Navy All-American Bowl will also air on NBC and the All-Star Football Game will air on SA Sports Star FM 94.1 and will be broadcasted later on the CW35 at 7 p.m.
Public Transportation:
VIA Park & Ride will be offering transportation services to the games on Jan. 11.
Fans who take the service will also receive free game tickets through VIA’s partnership with the San Antonio Sports Foundation. Vouchers for free entry into the games will be provided at the Crossroads Park & Ride.
The fare for VIA’s services is $1.30 each way with discounted fares for children, seniors, students and active-duty military. Cash, credit cards and VIA passes are accepted.
- Service to the Alamodome for the All-American Bowl will be provided from Crossroads Park & Ride from 10 a.m. until noon.
- Return service will operate for one hour after the All-American Bowl Game ends.
- Service to the Alamodome for the All-Star Game will be provided from Crossroads Park & Ride from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
