San Antonio International Airport evacuated Friday due to unexplained ‘false alarm’

Airport officials did not explain what caused the alarm leading to the evacuation of Terminal B.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio International Airport (SAT) was evacuated Friday afternoon due to a false alarm, according to the airport.

According to social media posts circulating online, people traveling at the airport were asked to evacuate.

San Antonio fire officials said crews were called out to Terminal B but were then canceled.

The airport tells KENS 5 the evacuation was a “false alarm” but has not explained its cause.

Once flyers came back in, the security line was longer than normal but appeared to be progressing quickly.

We are working to find out what caused the alarm to go off and whether it had any impact on flights.
