San Antonio International Airport unveils its expanded Terminal A with new gates and amenities, marking a pivotal step in its ongoing transformation efforts.
SAN ANTONIO — A long-awaited upgrade is officially taking flight at San Antonio International Airport.
Airport leaders will celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated and expanded Terminal A at 11 a.m. on Friday, marking a major milestone in the airport’s broader transformation efforts.
After months of delays, the expansion is now complete. Airport officials say the project is designed to accommodate more passengers while preparing for future growth.
The two-level addition sits next to Terminal A and includes expanded waiting areas and three new gates. Instead of using traditional jet bridges, passengers departing from the new gates will walk on the tarmac to board their planes.
The upgraded space also features new restaurants and a multi-sensory environment with quiet rooms, aimed at enhancing the overall passenger experience.
Airport officials describe the project as a small but important piece of a much larger transformation currently underway at San Antonio International Airport.
The expansion was originally scheduled to open in 2025, but airport leaders said the process of building the right facility took longer than expected.
