SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls for “quite some time.”
District Court Judge Laura Parker sentenced 38-year-old Alan Evonishon to 50 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child and 20 years on three counts of indecency with a child by contact, according to a press release from the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. The sentences are set to run concurrently.
In October 2018, the victims’ mother was doing one of her daughters’ hair when both of the girls told her they had been sexually assaulted by Evonishon.
Following the revelation, the DA’s office said, the girls’ mother confronted him about the allegations brought to her by her two young daughters.
Evonishon pleaded not guilty to his charges in May before he was later convicted on four of the five counts brought against him, according to online court records.
In addition to his prison sentence, Evonishon will also be required to pay a $324 fine.
“The courage displayed by the victims in speaking out against this wrongdoing not only brought light to the truth, but also played a crucial role in securing a conviction and sentencing,” Bexar County DA Joe Gonzales said in the release. “Now that this chapter is closed in their lives, we hope that the healing process can begin for them and all others who were affected.”
