San Antonio Missions National Historical Park receives grant from National Park Foundation

The grant helps to continue preservation work in the park through the Cultural Landscape Apprentice Program.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park have announced they have received a grant from the National Park Foundation.

The grant is to help continue preservation work in the park through the Cultural Landscape Apprentice Program. This youth program works with the Student Conservation Association to help engage young adults in cultural landscape preservation service within the urban national park. The program is from Fall 2024 through Summer 2025.

The youth apprentices work with National Park Service staff to help preserve internationally significant cultural resources and historical landscapes.

The historical park was named the first World Heritage Site in Texas in 2015 by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture. The park includes four Spanish colonial missions: Concepción, San José, San Juan and Espada.

The National Park Foundation’s Service Corps program gives grants to parks, park partners and community organizers to help engage young adults in national parks.
