SAN ANTONIO — A memorial was held this week in honor of a San Antonio woman who selflessly helped her fellow Texans following the deadly July 4 floods.
Lysa Hieber, 65, spent her last weeks helping families and individuals displaced by the Texas floods. She volunteered in the Sandy Creek area delivering much-needed supplies and care. She passed away on August 2.
Hieber was a military veteran and longtime Red Cross volunteer. She also worked as a nurse for 30 years.
Friends say that Hieber was known to have heart problems and reportedly wasn’t feel well for a couple of days before she passed away.
