San Antonio neighborhood rattled by bizarre lewd act caught on family’s security camera

A family in San Antonio pushes for charges after a man was caught on surveillance performing a lewd act near their home.

SAN ANTONIO — The post on social media with a plea for help is getting lots of clicks: a naked man gets out of a car and approaches an east-side San Antonio home performing a lewd act.

The family that witnessed the bizarre incident wants the man to face charges.

The incident, recorded by a home security camera, clearly shows a man sitting across the street from the home for almost an hour Friday night in the Jefferson Heights neighborhood.

Maria said she is most disturbed by video footage that shows the man taking flash pictures of her son while sitting in the car.

“We just don’t know what is going on,” Maria said with exasperation. ” You can clearly see the flash going off more than once.”

Maria, whose family has lived in the area almost two decades, said this is the first time that something like this happened.

“I don’t want this for other kids, so their parents have to be aware of their surroundings, you know, like there are people who are crazy like that out there,” Maria said.

“What happened to us could have happened to anybody else but like, why? Why are you going to come to my house and do stuff like that?” she said.

Maria said the incident began with an odd request when the unknown man parked across the street, rolled down the window of his car and asked if it was okay to park in the area and smoke a cigarette.

At the time, they thought nothing of his question and weren’t alarmed by the man’s behavior until a bit later when they heard his car door open and close and found him walking toward their home.

When the man arrived, he was wearing a white shirt but Maria said after he had been parked for a while, he removed his shirt. She said they had no idea he was also without pants.

The surveillance video clearly shows he had stripped naked.

Maria said her husband screamed at the man.

“He start cursing at him and telling him ‘What is your problem?'” Maria said, adding her husband told the man to leave and then followed the car in an effort to get a license plate as the man sped away.

When police answered their call for help, Maria said even the responding officers were shocked.

Maria said she didn’t realize the man had been watching them for an extended period of time until she went back and reviewed her security video. She said it blew her mind.

“It got me mad, more mad than anything else,” Maria said.

“We called the cops and they were freaked out. They’re like this is the first time that we see something like this,” Maria said.

Maria said she showed police officers the alarming video.

“I showed it to them and they’re like this is the first time that we see something like this happening,” Maria said, adding she thinks it’s hard to shock an officer.

Maria said the family has no idea who the man is or why he targeted their home.

Even though her son is an adult, Maria said she finds it disturbing that the man waited until her son walked out onto their porch to step out of his car and begin his lewd display.

“Good thing my son was paying attention to his phone and he wasn’t looking that way. My son was minding his own business while the man was grabbing his thing,” Maria said.

Maria said she hopes people will share the images of the man and his vehicle so that police will look for him.

“We need a license plate, that would be a best bet because at least with the license plate the police would know who the car belongs to and they can go from there. We did our part,” Maria said.

“We think he’s somewhere nearby and he knows what he’s doing and thanks to my cameras I was able to get something for police,” she added.

The family believes the man may have a connection to the area bounded by East Houston Street on the north and East Commerce on the south, with a western boundary of New Braunfels Avenue and on the of east the Frost Bank Center area.
