San Antonio office closures announced for winter holidays

San Antonio City offices will close Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, but essential services continue. Plan for waste collection shifts and check holiday schedules in advance.

SAN ANTONIO — While many are unwrapping gifts and sipping hot cocoa, City Hall and most City of San Antonio offices will be closed for the winter holidays.

The closures are planned from Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, through Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of the winter holidays.

Public safety and emergency services will remain in operation. Police, fire, and EMS crews will be on duty throughout the holiday period.

The City’s 3-1-1 Call Center will operate with limited hours, handling urgent concerns such as animal-related issues and traffic signal malfunctions. Animal Care and Code Enforcement officers will also remain available.

Residents should plan ahead for changes to waste collection, with no service on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Pickups will shift to later dates during both holiday weeks.

Downtown visitors can take advantage of free on-street parking on Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1, along with limited free hours at City-operated garages.

Libraries, community centers, senior centers, and many City facilities will follow modified schedules or close entirely on key holiday dates. City parks and trails will remain open.

A full list of closures and adjusted services is available through the City of San Antonio.

Residents are encouraged to check schedules in advance before visiting City offices or facilities.
