SAPD was notified by BCSO that Officer Ruben Vasquez, who has 24 years of service, had been arrested on an assault bodily injury – family charge.
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a San Antonio police officer for an incident that allegedly occurred while he was off duty.
On Thursday around 9:40 a.m., deputies responded to the 8900 block of Highland Gate after receiving reports of an alleged assault. The victim told officials she had gotten into an argument with her husband on Wednesday night when he, “Raised his arm up with a fist and began to close distance on her.”
The victim went on to allege she had to push him off to create distance, which resulted in her being, “pushed with both hands,” to the ground. She reportedly told officials the altercation led to her having pain in her lower back.
SAPD was notified by BCSO that Officer Ruben Vasquez, who has 24 years of service, had been arrested on an assault bodily injury – family charge.
Vasquez is currently assigned to SAPD’s West Patrol Section, but has now been place on administrative leave.
“The San Antonio Police Department is conducting an administrative investigation into this incident. Please contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for any questions regarding the criminal investigation,” officials said.
