San Antonio police renew efforts to find suspect who killed 16-year-old girl in 2022

The homicide remains unsolved more than three years later, and SAPD is urging anyone with information to come forward.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are once again asking for the public’s help as they work to solve the murder of a16-year-old  girl, who was found fatally shot inside a stolen vehicle on the south side back in 2022.

Officers were called to the 5100 block of War Horse Drive around 12:32 a.m. on May 10, 2022, for reports of a shooting in progress. When they arrived, officers found Navaeh Martinez in the back seat of a stolen black Kia Optima with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives later determined that the shooting did not occur on War Horse Drive. Instead, investigators believe Martinez was shot in the 5400 block of Hayden Drive, about a mile away. After the shooting, police say she was driven to War Horse Drive, where the vehicle was abandoned.

The homicide remains unsolved more than three years later, and SAPD is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators are specifically seeking tips that could help identify and locate the suspect or suspects responsible for Martinez’s death.

Anyone with information—no matter how small it may seem—is asked to contact authorities. Tips can be made anonymously.

If you know anything about the murder of Navaeh Martinez, call Crime Stoppers or the San Antonio Police Department’s Homicide Unit or call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP (210-224-7867).
