A family disturbance call quickly escalated between responding officers and a 19-year-old man on the Northwest Side of San Antonio. The officers reportedly shot the man after he pointed a shotgun at them, according to San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus.
Police officers initially responded to an apartment complex in the 9100 block of Dartbrook Drive for a family disturbance call involving a knife. A female family member told police the man was acting violently and throwing things around the apartment while threatening to kill her, according to McManus.
Upon arrival, officers were going up a stairway when they made contact with the man who was allegedly pointing a shotgun at them, McManus said. Both officers responded by drawing their weapons and firing at the teen. At this time, it is unclear how many times the officers fired at the man.
The 19-year-old was taken to an area hospital, where his condition remains unknown. There were no other injuries reported on the scene, according to McManus.
