San Antonio Pride, SAPD to host community forum following Jonathan Joss’ murder

The forum is set to take place 6 p.m. Thursday night at Woodlawn Pointe Main Auditorium located at 702 Donaldson.

SAN ANTONIO — The news shook the country: “King of the Hill” voice actor Jonathan Goss was shot and killed outside his south-side home on June 1.

His husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, has called the shooting a hate crime. He says before Joss was killed, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez allegedly approached them yelling homophobic slurs.

And on Thursday evening, Pride San Antonio and the San Antonio Police Department are hosting a community forum.

San Antonio police say they currently don’t have evidence to indicate the murder was related to Joss’s sexual orientation. But that hasn’t stopped the community, including de Gonzales, from calling it a hate crime investigation.

Residents on the street Jasso lived on say they called police numerous times to resolve disputes between Joss and Alvarez.

San Antonio police say they have over 50 calls on record involving the men since last January.

As a result of the discourse online, SAPD says they will hold a forum to address concerns and fears the LGBTQ+ community may have.

The forum is set to take place 6 p.m. Thursday night at Woodlawn Pointe Main Auditorium located at 702 Donaldson.
